POSTING project | INFINITY is a social sculpture project that aims to exercise collaboration, equanimity and togetherness among people of different creeds, races and nationalities. It consists of 65 chestnut fencing poles from sustainable woodlands engraved with poems, mantras and quotes, which were created with the purpose of being buried in Kentish/British soil, generating a tactile and visual web of tolerance, accessibility and clarity in juxtaposition to the worldwide web.

Following the donation of the entire set of engraved fencing poles, to be displayed in the shape of the infinity symbol, in open air institutions, woodlands, sculpture parks or fields, the artwork will have a QR code linking to www.marciaclayton.com/posting which will enable any visitors to read the inscriptions in full.

The first stage of the 4 year project, POSTING, was showcased on a smaller scale as an interactive installation having an audio set off by a sensor reciting poems, followed by a performance in the solo exhibition BORDERLINE at Bermondsey Project Space, in London 2021.

The second stage featured a proposal letter ‘HAIKUS FOR KENT’, addressed to artists, poets and thinkers, and posted by the SVAF (Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum) in the Sevenoaks Kaleidoscope Gallery newsletter, in May 2023.

The final stage, INFINITY, is to find a home in an open air space, measuring approximately 140 x 900 x 450 cm, to display the full form as the infinity symbol, credited to the renowned mathematician John Wallis (1655), born in Ashford, Kent 1616.

O POSTING project | INFINITY de escultura social objetiva o exercício colaborativo, equânime e de união entre povos de diferentes crenças, raças e nacionalidades. Consiste em 65 mourões de castanheira inglesa sustentável gravados com poemas, mantras e citações, criados com a intenção de serem fincados em solo Kentiano/britânico, gerando uma rede tátil e visual de tolerância, acesso e clareza, em justaposição a rede virtual de conexão global.

Após a disponibilização para instituições e/ou associações de bosques, parques de esculturas e campos, o conjunto da obra no formato do símbolo do infinito será verticalizado com um código QR, que permitirá a leitura de seu conteúdo através do site www.marciaclayton.com/posting.

A primeira etapa do projeto de 4 anos, POSTING, foi apresentada em uma escala menor como uma instalação interativa, portando um áudio a sensor de presença que recitava poemas, seguido por performance na abertura da exposição individual BORDERLINE, realizada na Galeria Bermondsey Project Space, em Londres 2021.

A segunda, caracterizou-se pela carta proposta ‘HAICAIS para KENT’, endereçada à artistas, poetas e pensadores, enviada pelo boletim de notícias da SVAF (SevenoaksVisual Arts Forum) da Galeria Sevenoaks Kaleisdoscope Kent , maio de 2023.

E a etapa final, INFINITY, é a doação e implantação dos 65 mourões ao ar livre no formato do símbolo do infinito, cuja criação em 1655 é creditada ao renomado matemático britânico, John Wallis, nascido em Ashford, Kent, em 1616.
